Pound Cake Recipes
BEE BALM POUND CAKE
I originally got this recipe out of an edible flower cookbook. This recipe is a great base for whatever flavor you desire. Most of the time I make orange poppyseed pound cake

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 6 eggs
- juice of 1 lemon
- ½ cup bee balm flowers coarsely chopped
- 1/8 tsp. salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325*F.
- Cream together butter and sugar until mixture is light and fluffy.2 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup butter
- In a separate bowl, sift and then measure flour.2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- Alternate adding flour and eggs (one at a time) to the creamed sugar, beating continually.6 eggs
- Add lemon juice, vanilla, bee balm flowers and salt. Mix for 1 minute.juice of 1 lemon, ½ cup bee balm flowers, 1/8 tsp. salt
- Pour batter into a buttered and floured tube pan and bake for about 1 hour 20 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Take cake out of the oven and put on a rack to cool for 10 min.
- Remove cake form pan and allow to cool completely on rack.
Notes
You can be as creative as you want with this recipe. I have a friend who shares her Arizona oranges with me so I replace the lemon juice with orange juice and add a little orange extract for more orange flavor.
Exchange the bee balm flowers with lavender, chopped nuts, seeds, or chocolate pieces.

Grandmama’s Pound Cake – Small
This is a good old fashioned pound cake. Traditionally pound cake is a pound each of butter, sugar, flour and eggs. Grandmama's pound cake recipe has always been a sure crowd pleaser!

Ingredients
- 2 sticks oleo margarine
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 5 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven 325*
- Cream butter and sugar2 sticks oleo margarine, 1 1/2 cups sugar
- Add eggs one at a time. Beat well after each addition.5 eggs
- Add flour a little at a time, beating after each addition.2 cups flour
- Add almond and vanilla extracts.1/2 tsp. almond extract, 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- Bake 55 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
